Sacraments
Baptism
Baptism is the gateway to all the other sacraments and the beginning of a life in Christ. No matter what stage of life, you are welcome to participate in this sacred rite of initiation into the Catholic Church. Our parish is fully prepared and staffed to accompany you and your family with guidance, support, and care as you seek this sacrament.
First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
At the age of reason (around age seven), baptized children begin preparation to celebrate their First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated at a communal service with individual Confessions in January, followed by First Holy Communion in May. For additional details and guidance, please visit our visit our page on what to expect and how to prepare. Our head of Children’s Formation, Missy Bishop, will happily help families in this process. Or submit a form online:
Confirmation
In the Diocese of Richmond, 10th grade is the earliest you can receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Visit our Confirmation page for more details.
Matrimony
The Sacrament of Matrimony is a sacred covenant established by Christ, joining a man and woman in a lifelong union of faithful love and service. In the Diocese of Richmond, couples are required to observe a six-month preparation period, which includes participation in a marriage preparation program offered at Incarnation. For a wedding to be celebrated here, at least one party must be a registered parishioner who regularly worships at Sunday Mass; for more information, please contact our parish office.
Anointing of the Sick
Catholics should not wait until they are in danger of dying before requesting this Sacrament. One may celebrate the Sacrament of Anointing at the onset or during any serious illness. The Sacrament may also be celebrated before surgery and more than once during an illness. In the case of an emergency, please contact the parish office.
