Food Pantry — FAQs

—When and where does the distribution happen?

  • Our food distribution begins at 11:35 a.m. on Sundays.

  • Please line up in the queue at the back of the church, coming in through the doors across from the playground.

  • We ask that you arrive in time to be in line before the distribution start to help things run smoothly.

—How can I stay up-to-date on announcements or last-minute changes?

  • We have a form you can fill out to receive the latest announcements and last-minute changes. (Link to form)

  • We encourage everyone who uses the pantry to fill out the form — this helps us keep our community informed.

—What about holiday hours or special schedules?

  • If the pantry is unable to host on a regular Sunday (for example due to a holiday or building closure), we will post the holiday hours at least 3 weeks in advance.

  • Please check the website or your email (if you’ve signed up) for updates ahead of time.

—What if we are unable to distribute this Sunday?

  • On the rare occasions the pantry cannot host distribution, there are two alternative food assistance locations you may contact:

Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry
2050 Lambs Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901
Phone: (434) 996-7868

Blue Ridge Area Food Bank – Eastern Region Branch
1207 Harris Street, Charlottesville, VA 22903
Phone: (434) 296-3663

Please call ahead to those locations to confirm hours and availability.

—Do I need to bring anything with me when I come?

  • Please bring any reusable bags or containers you prefer to carry your food.

  • Arrive in a timely manner so that you’re in the queue before 11:35 a.m. on Sundays.

—Do you have any rules or guidelines for the line or distribution?

  • We ask guests to queue at the designated doors (across from the playground) and follow the instructions of the volunteers or staff.

  • If the pantry is especially busy, we may ask everyone to form a single-line outside and enter as we call households.

  • If you signed up for announcements via the form, you’ll receive notices about any schedule changes, delays, or closures.

—What about eligibility or fees?

  • There is no fee to receive food from our pantry.

  • We serve anyone in need in our community. If you have questions about whether you qualify, you may call ahead or visit during distribution to speak with a volunteer.

—Who should I contact if I have questions?

  • You may contact our pantry coordinator (insert coordinator name/email/phone).

  • For updates, announcements, or cancellations, please check this website AND make sure you’re signed up through our form so we can notify you directly.
