Vision Statement

PREAMBLE

Our vision of God’s will for the Church of the Incarnation, that is stated below (a) can provide an appropriate and helpful focus for the activities of the parish and the activities of its members, (b) can guide the leadership and members of the Parish when they are trying to make decisions such as those related to setting priorities and to distributing resources for the Parish, (c) can help inspire and mobilize each member of the Parish to try to achieve the vision, and (d) can assist prospective members of the parish who are trying to decide whether to join.

THE VISION STATEMENT

In 2013:
The Church of the Incarnation, a Roman Catholic Community in Charlottesville, Virginia, will be a parish in which each member feels encouraged and able to discern and follow a path leading to his or her personal spiritual development, growth, and transformation in Christ. This path will include participation in an ongoing process of faith formation that includes prayer and study.

The Church of the Incarnation will be a parish in which relationships are purposely encouraged among its members through the liturgy, education, social events and all the other ministries of the parish.

The Church of the Incarnation will be a parish community that is inclusive, welcoming, and hospitable; characterized by, but not limited to, diversity of culture, ethnicity, and generation.

The Church of the Incarnation will be an evangelizing parish in which members witness and spread the Gospel in keeping with their individual gifts.

The Church of the Incarnation will be a parish that provides spiritual, emotional, and financial support for those in need within the parish and in the broader community.

This statement will be reviewed, modified if necessary, and reaffirmed by the Pastoral Council at its April meeting each year.

Adopted by the Pastoral Council at its February 14, 2006, meeting.
