Our
Needs
The buildings and facilities, which make up our parish
campus, have served us well for many years. Time and heavy usage, however, have
taken their toll and many aspects of our facility need to be upgraded and
renovated.
The current Narthex is too small to accommodate the
tremendous growth in the Parish since it was built in 1980. Poor lighting, an
un-inviting entrance and termites have taken their toll.
The Daily Mass Chapel is still “housed” in the space
originally designed as class/meeting rooms. Our growth requires us to use this
space as originally intended as well as to offer a more suitable setting for
deceased and family visitation for funerals.
Our Sacristy does not allow for a separate vesting area
for our clergy and is in need of modernization.
Our Blessed Sacrament Chapel, while beautiful in its own
right, needs to be protected from the noise and not remain a “passageway” into
the Reconciliation Room, which should serve that purpose only.
Our
Goals
To upgrade and modernize our existing facilities:
Parish Hall:
· Replacing and upgrading the windows (many of which are broken and all of which are energy inefficient)
· Replacing the two sides of the 46 year old roof (that were not replaced in the 1999 building project) and the top, flat portion of the roof.
Worship Center:
· Repairing the 27-year old roof over the boiler room
· Replacing the 16 year-old carpet
Parish Activities Center:
· Replacing the front doors/canopy entrance
· Replacing the energy inefficient windows
Exterior and Miscellaneous:
· Replacing the 46 year old main building boiler (Completed)
· Resurfacing the parking lots
· Erecting new exterior signage
To
continue to evolve our sense of community and welcoming:
-
The Narthex… will be expanded to include a more spacious entrance
to the Worship Center, with better lighting, a more inviting landscaped outdoor
entrance, and comfortable seating areas to allow for fellowship and small group
meetings. In addition, accommodations will be made to allow parishioners to
participate in Liturgy while in the Narthex.
-
Our Sacristy… will be expanded to include a separate
changing/vestment area for our clergy, an improved restroom and a sacrarium (a
sink which is specifically designed to meet the liturgical requirements for the
disposal of holy oils and cleansing of purificators).
To continue to
deepen our sense of reverence:
- A new Daily Mass Chapel will be constructed to not only provide for the Daily Liturgy but offer space to accommodate the deceased and family members during funerals, hold various Sacramental meetings such as RCIA and Children’s Liturgy of the Word and to offer a space for gatherings of small faith communities.
- The Blessed Sacrament Chapel will be renovated and “soundproofed” and the Reconciliation Room will be reconfigured to provide for a more intimate setting for the Sacrament of Penance.
