Little Christians

Little Christians

Little Christians (“LCs”) are in classes based on age level by September of the year classes begin.  We have one class of 3 year olds, and two classes each of 4 and 5 year olds.

Class Times

LCs meets during the 9:00am Sunday Liturgy (9:00 to 10:15).  Children are taken by their parents to the classroom and are picked up promptly in the Parish Hall at the conclusion of  liturgy.

Parents’ Role

We ask that there be a parent helper in the classroom every week.  A Parent Helper schedule will be emailed to you at the beginning of the year in September.  If you cannot make your scheduled Sunday, kindly contact another parent on the list to switch Sundays with them.  You will also receive a Parent Helper reminder email the week before you are scheduled.

Most weeks your child will bring home a Take-Home Story that is based on the lesson that was taught that morning.  Enjoy reading and discussing it with your child.

Curriculum

We use the I Am Special series by Our Sunday Visitor publisher, which is based on the belief that young children need to:

*develop positive self-concepts;

*grow in understanding and appreciation of God’s love and goodness; and,

*increase their knowledge and practice of Christian actions and liturgical seasons.

We Need You

We use two Catechists per classroom.   Please consider being one.   The only requirement is that you enjoy little people and have a desire to make God known to them.  The activities/crafts are already planned.

Each age level also has a Coordinator, who gathers materials in the Catechist Room for the lessons each week (can be done anytime during the week or weekend) and takes turns with the other two Coordinators being present on Sundays in the Catechist Room (“the On-Duty Coordinator”). The On-Duty Coordinator monitors the hallway, assists in the Catechist Room, and takes children to the Parish Hall at the end of class for pick-up by parents.

High School students are also welcomed as Aides in each classroom.

Fees are $75 for one child, $120 for two children, and $150 for three or more children.
