Yearly Class Schedule

2011-2012 CF Schedule

Grade 1

Children 6 years old gather in one class from noon to 1:00 pm.  We use the Creemos bilingual series from Sadlier Publishing. Children learn the basic prayers and are introduced to the Sacraments of Initiation. Participation in a Christian Formation program (or attendance at a Catholic school) in grade 1 is a prerequisite for preparation for the Sacraments of 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist in grade 2.

Hispanic Sacramental – Grade 2

For baptized children in grade 2, who have participated in a Christian Formation program (or attended a Catholic school) in grade 1.  Children prepare for the Sacraments of 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist during classes from 10:30 to 11:25 pm (between the Masses).  Parents of children who were not baptized at Incarnation are required to provide a copy of their child’s baptismal certificate.

From September through January, children prepare to celebrate the  Sacrament of 1st Reconciliation.  A communal reconciliation service with individual confessions is offered in January.   From mid-January through April, children prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of 1st Eucharist.  Children will celebrate the Sacrament of 1st Eucharist during the Hispanic Mass (1:30 pm) after Easter (to be announced) or during any of the 1st Eucharist Anglo Masses in May.

Classes are taught in English using Faith First published by Resources for Christian Living Publishing.

In addition, parents attend one meeting in fall for the Sacrament of 1st Reconciliation and one meeting in winter for the Sacrament of 1st Eucharist.   Parents are guided in how to work with children at home using the Together in Jesus bilingual series by Pflaum Publishing Company.  Parents and children also attend a Bread Baking reflection day in March.

RICA – Grade 3 and above

For children in grade 3 and above who prepare to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, 1st Reconciliation and/or 1st Eucharist. This is a two-year program.

During the 1st year, children attend Christian Formation classes from 10:30 to 11:25 pm (between the Masses).  Children are placed in classes according to their grade level.  Children who have not been baptized prepare for and and are baptized during the year.  (Parents are also required to attend the Hispanic Baptism Prep class.)

In the second year, baptized children gather as a class to prepare to receive the Sacraments of 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist.  The first Sunday of every month children will also attend the 11:30 am Mass as a group.  Parents are encouraged to attend this Mass with their children.

Classes are taught in English both years.

If children were baptized in a parish other than Incarnation, parents are required to provide a copy of their child’s baptismal certificate.

Children will celebrate the Sacrament of 1st Eucharist during the Hispanic Mass (1:30 pm) (date to be announced).
