Adult Faith Formation Opportunities Onsite at Incarnation
We have several ongoing and one-time only faith formation and educational opportunities for adults. No fees (unless for Nursery or occasional book fee where indicated).
THE GREAT ADVENTURE – A Journey Through the Bible: This is a Bible study system that will be offered at Incarnation fall 2012. The sessions include viewing a DVD followed by a facilitated discussion using a study kit. (Go to biblestudyforcatholics.com for more info and to purchase kits. Kits also can be purchased at Amazon.com (cheaper prices)).
How is this Bible study different from others? 1) It makes the complex simple by taking the 73 books of the Bible and reducing them to 12 periods of salvation history; 2) It’s Catholic. The speaker points to how things relate to both the sacraments and lived experience; and 3) It’s practical. It uses a color-coded memory system to help you remember the periods of salvation history. The study kit also provides a laminated timeline for easy reference.
“Great Adventure Bible Timeline” (24 session DVD series) by Jeff Cavins – Tuesdays beginning Sept. 18, 9:30-11:00am – Activities Center – facilitated by Dave Russell
“A Quick Journey Through the Bible” (8 session DVD series) by Jeff Cavins and Sarah Christmyer. The following sessions facilitated by Nancy Brinkac:
*every other Monday, beginning October 8, 9:30-11:00am, nursery provided at minimal cost.
*every Wednesday evening, beginning October 10, 7:00-8:30pm in the Activities Center (PAC).
The Bible is not just any story – it’s your story. Discover how to read it. Discover God’s plan for your life as told in the amazing story of salvation history.
Tables of Seven: Seven people to a table that is. This is a Bible study that meets between the Sunday morning liturgies (from 10:30 until 11:15 am) to break open the Scripture readings for that Sunday to determine applicability to daily living. The group uses the online series Emmaus Journey. Copies of the Scripture reading with probing questions are provided. The group currently meets in the Library (second door on your right in the CF hallway). (We’ll move to the Parish Hall to form more “tables of 7″. No ongoing commitment required. Families are welcome to use the Nursery at no fee.
TNT (Theatre & Theology): After seeing a really good flick, don’t you typically want to talk about it with family and friends? Well, now’s your chance to do just that. At least once a month, Father Gregory shows a movie (the “theatre” part) after which he facilitates a lively discussion on the faith themes displayed therein (the “theology” part). Even if you already saw the movie being featured, come see it again and be amazed at what you and others experience viewing the movie from a faith perspective. Movies are shown on Friday evenings promptly at 7:00 pm in the Parish Activities Center (stone bldg. across from parish office entrance to the main bldg). No RSVP required unless Nursery is needed. Bring popcorn or other treat to share if you like. Watch bulletin, Christian Formation bulletin board (across from ladies restroom) or check this page for date and description of next featured film. Scheduled films:
September 14 – “Places in the Heart” (starring Sally Field and John Malkovich)
October 12 – “Brothers” (starring Jake Gyllenhall)
November 9 – “Entertaining Angels” (A film about Dorothy Day) (November 9 is her birthday in 1897)
December 7 – “A Christmas Carol” (British, 1951, starring Alastair Sim)

Our Nursery
“Every effort to make society sensitive to the importance of the family is a great service to humanity.” – Pope John Paul II
We believe that faith formation is both never-ending and continual. We also believe that parents have primary responsibility for passing on the faith to the next generation, but that parents cannot give what they do not have. Those two beliefs are the impetus behind the priority we place on having a well-equipped and staffed Nursery, so that parents can realistically meet those responsibilities. In addition, our Caregivers are provided an hourly wage and have been either trained in early childhood education or have equivalent experience. Most importantly, they view their role as a ministry of the utmost importance.
The Parish Nursery is available at no fee for children 1 year up to 4 years of age during the following Sunday weekend Masses–9:00 am, 11:30 am and 1:30 pm (Hispanic), on a first come, first serve basis. The number of children is limited to 18 when 3 Caregivers are on duty (12 children when 2 Caregivers are present). We also offer Nursery for Sacramental Prep and other adult faith formation sessions as noted in the weekly Bulletin or as described on this website.
